Insane Mic Pickup! 😲 soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Max and 5 Pro First Look!
Guinness world record for world’s clearest earbuds for calls! Who would have thought there’d be such a thing! But today, in partnership with Soundcore, we’re going to take a first look at the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Max and the Liberty 5 Pro, which Soundcore claims has awesome mic quality in very noisy conditions, because it’s powered by 8 microphones in total with 2 bone conduction sensors, and the new Thus AI chip with 150x more computing power than the Liberty 4 Pro.
But you might be wondering if its mic pickup would really be that good for you. The good news is, if you buy them from Soundcore’s website, link below, Soundcore has limited slots of this ‘Try Now’ program that lets you try the Liberty 5 Pro series for 30 days, and if you don’t like them you can return them with no upfront payment.
Of course Soundcore’s Thus AI processor also impacts active noise canceling and sound quality, and both the 5 Pro Max and 5 Pro are very feature rich. Technically both models are the same, the main difference here being the Liberty 5 Pro Max having the larger screen and AI Note taking.
AI Note Taking
The Liberty 5 Pro Max is also an AI Note taker which transcribes what people are saying. Just tap the record button on its case’s screen, there’s a mic in the case that starts recording, after which you can have it converted into notes and summaries in the Soundcore app, making this great for recording meetings and lectures.
Active Noise Cancelling
As for their noise canceling performance, they are pretty effective. Frequency sweeps show that on both models, there is a heavy emphasis on reducing the lower frequencies below 500hz, and pretty good attenuation of the upper mids and highs as well. Both are very effective noise cancelers.
Sound Quality
As for their sound quality on their default Soundcore Signature setting, both earbuds lean pretty V-shaped, with more emphasis on the sub-bass region, so bass feels meaty and thumpy, lower mids are a bit recessed while upper mids are higher, and this gives vocals more pop and crispness while keeping the bass from muddying the vocals. Track separation is great, and soundstaging feels compact and intimate. Overall, both have an exciting, visceral signature.
Key Features
As with all Soundcore earbuds, there’s a whole range of custom sound options to try like Dolby Atmos with head tracking, EQ presets, a graphic equalizer, and HearID auto calibration. And with Thus AI, we also get AI Sound Enhancement, which upscales lossy audio files to make them sound more Hi-Res. What is also very useful, and this is true for both the Liberty 5 Pro Max and 5 Pro, is three-way multipoint pairing.
Most earbuds either do 2 way only, or they restrict multipoint to their own ecosystems. These new Soundcores are now one of the few that can connect to up to 3 devices at the same time, be it to iPhones, Android, Mac or PC. The audio-switching on automatic mode is also seamless, even with 3 devices, I didn’t have to press pause on device A to play on B, I press play on device B or C and it immediately starts playing. Of course, if you set multipoint to just 2 devices, the connection is going to be even more reliable.
EQ Settings
Both of them also have voice controls. There’s no wake word, just say these commands and you can do stuff like control playback and volume, as well as control ambient modes. I would say it’s useful but I wouldn’t use it in public, because I would rather stick with on board controls.
And for that, the 5 Pro Max’s big screen is very convenient. It makes it easy to customize the earbuds settings even without using your phone, like turning on Dolby Atmos with head tracking and EQ settings, manage connected devices, and you can even set a wallpaper for it.
The Liberty 5 Pro has a smaller screen which is still very useful for settings, but of course, no wallpaper.
As for the fit of the earbuds, they do fit pretty well because they come with 3 different sizes of stability fins which lock properly into the conch of the ears.
