My Top 3 Daily Drivers 🔥 (Earbuds)

Here are my top 3 earbuds that I alternate on a daily basis depending on the purpose, and depending on my mood. It’s worth mentioning that all three scored very high on my rankings list which also measured other aspects. Without furtheer ado, these are…

  1. Sony WF-1000XM6

I use the Sony WF-1000XM6 a lot, not because it’s super portable, it’s not, but because after tuning them, they sound pretty awesome. I made them sound punchy with clean, full bass, crisp and clear mids. A very exciting, energetic signature. Decent mic quality too, I gave them Rank A because they’re vastly better than the majority of earbuds at cleaning up background noise.

They don’t do as well as the best noise canceler at actively canceling low, and lower mid frequencies, but it’s still one of the best noise cancelers and its foam tips are very effective at cutting the noise of birds and kids. Have a lot of those in my area. What I don’t really like about them is their case being larger than my other daily drivers, so I often use them at home instead of taking them outside, and the buds are a bit on the fat side so they aren’t that great for sleeping if you’re a side sleeper, like me. Do note that out of the box, they don’t sound that impressive, but after tuning them with my Singapore Spring EQ setting, they sound wonderful. (Scan QR code below)

AirPods Pro 3

Next one’s the AirPods Pro 3. This is the one I use a lot, super versatile because its case is tiny, so I end up grabbing these wherever I go, and the buds are small enough to be used for sleeping. I can still feel the stem when pressing my ears against the pillow, but they’re not painful or annoying. These also have the best noise canceling of all the buds I’ve tested.

They may not muffle voices like something with foam tips, for example, the Sony WF-1000XM6, but the degree of general silence that you can get out of them is mindblowing. Transparency mode’s equally as awesome, almost like not wearing earbuds. As for how they perform when it comes to sound, it’s that clean, clinical Apple sound but with fuller, punchier bass. Enjoyable enough for everyday use. What’s not so great about them is that they don’t have deep customization of their sound. You can create an audiogram and adjust dynamic range, but no graphic equalizer.

Technics AZ100

My last daily driver is the Technics AZ100. These are very reliable, feature rich, has great battery life, and when I’m not bringing AirPods, I take these ones because they’re almost as small and portable, and they sound awesome to me. So even if I’m not going out, I use them at home for their sound signature. It’s a very clean, analytical V-shaped tuning, and I don’t have to EQ them at all. Out of the box, they’re already tuned to my preference. It’s also got spatial audio with head tracking that works with any device or content, plus, they can do something that my other daily drivers can’t.

They have multipoint which lets you connect up to 3 devices at the same time, no matter the device or ecosystem. The AirPods multipoint only works for Apple devices while Sony can connect up to 2, this one does 3, and it doesn’t matter if it’s to PC, iOS or Android. Great for me because I have to switch between all of them on any given day. The only thing that it doesn’t do very well is transparency mode. It’s usable but it’s hard to have face to face convos with these stuck in my ears.

Conclusion

So having looked at all three of my daily drivers, did you notice something? All of them have a plug in-the ear fit, not the kind that hangs loosely. I just prefer earplug-style because it feels more secure, it keeps the bass in and the noise out. Very important for noise canceling and sound.
