REAL Plane Noise Canceling Battle! 🔥 AirPods Pro 3 vs Huawei, Bose, Sony
I’m about to hop on a flight. Gonna visit my Indonesian side of the family. So I thought, this is a great opportunity to test the noise canceling of the AirPods Pro 3 on an actual flight. I’ve also brought some of its friends along to compare, like the Bose QC Ultra Gen 2, Huawei Freebuds Pro 5, and my trusty old Sony WF-1000XM5. Let’s see how they measure up in an actual noisy plane environment.
Sony WF-1000XM5
From what we’ve heard from the recordings, it seems like when dealing with plane noise, the Sony WF-1000XM5 is super quiet, able to deal with higher pitched noises better than the others. No surprise there, it’s got foam tips, so it definitely is better at canceling higher frequencies, and even a bit better at muffling the sound of crying babies. You can literally see the difference in the frequency sweeps.
AirPods 3 Pro
But apart from that, the AirPods Pro 3 is quieter. Somehow the Sony was still letting in the rumbling noises a bit, but the AirPods Pro 3 sounded super silent. You still do hear a bit of the plane noise, but using the AirPods Pro 3, it’s the closest thing to silence on a plane, and it’s because it is the most effective at canceling the lower frequencies.
Bose QC Ultra Gen 2
The Bose QC Ultra is pretty great also, but it didn’t feel as silent as the AirPods Pro 3 whether in the lower or higher frequencies, or even the Sony, which is a little disappointing, I was expecting the Bose to be at least number 2 in this comparison.
Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5
Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5, actually using them, they are pretty silent also, but there’s a bit of residual sound that leaks through in the upper midrange, as this frequency sweep reflects. Nonetheless, it has the best noise canceling after Sony.
Conclusion
So if we were to rank them, the AirPods Pro 3 is first place, followed by Sony WF-1000XM5, then Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5, and finally the Bose QC Ultra Gen 2. The results are surprising for me, like I said, I thought the Bose would be further up the list but apparently not so.
