Worth buying Technics AZ100 in 2026? 🤔

Should you still buy the Technics AZ100 in 2026? Since it was released in January 2025, for more than half a year I was daily driving the Technics AZ100. They may not have the best noise canceling, transparency, mic pickup or sound, nor have I seen anything that are the best in all of these areas at once, but the AZ100 achieved something very rare, which is being in the top tier in all of these areas without sacrificing any part. To me, it was the best balance, and sometimes they do go on promo making them even better value.

Why did I Stop Using It?

The only reason I stopped using them is because of the AirPods Pro 3, which finally has fantastic fit and the industry’s best noise canceling performance. The seamless connection between Apple devices is also a major draw, and on iPhones, you can’t share audio with multiple sets of earbuds unless they are AirPods.

Even so, I find myself returning to the Technics. Not as often as I used to, but if I wanted something more scratch-proof than the case of the AirPods without being much bigger, I’d just reach for the AZ100 because it has fantastic performance, and I like the sound quality enough to enjoy all day long. It sounds very enjoyable, clean and punchy with heavy bass extension where needed, and they are quite resolving in the soundstage so little bits of detail in the recording comes out a bit brighter. The emphasis here is on accuracy and detail, which these deliver in good measure.

I have to say, though, that preference plays a big part in determining which sounds great to you, and some of you might disagree. For me the soundstaging could use a little more depth because they have a flatter presentation.

But even without mentioning sound quality, if we compare them to other earbuds that I’ve reviewed in the past 3 years, these are one of the best, scoring 26 points in my Overall Earbuds Rankings, just as much as the AirPods Pro 3, Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5, and the Melomania A100. Their Mic Quality ranked A, Battery Life ranked S, Multipoint Pairing Rank S, and not a single feature ranked C!

Works Across Platforms

And with the Technics Audio Connect app it’s fully supported on both iOS and Android, they are very customizable with many settings to try. And if you stream over the standard AAC codec, Technics is the ONLY brand that supports multipoint pairing to 3 separate devices. Unlike Samsung or Apple earbuds, I didn’t have to use devices from the same ecosystem, nor did I have to sign in to an account, it just works.

That’s why I gave them a Rank S for multipoint pairing in my rankings list. They also fit very well, nice and snug, and they come in a very small case. It also helps that they are pretty reliable when it comes to bluetooth connection, I barely, if ever, have any signal drops. And if you switch it to LE Audio mode, you can receive Auracast streams in the Technics App itself, if that’s something you aim to do.

Overall, the AZ100 is still very relevant, and still worth buying in 2026. You can check their latest price on Amazon in the link below:
