NVIDIA is Developing New Chips to Enter the Chinese Market

Singapore, May 3, 2025 - Nvidia, one of the world’s leading chip manufacturers, has decided to design custom chips tailored for the Chinese market. The company previously faced distribution challenges in China due to US export restrictions. But after meeting with several of its biggest clients in China, including Alibaba Group, TikTok, and Tencent, Nvidia is now more confident in its push to expand into the country.

Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, is expected to fly to Beijing in mid-April following the announcement of a US ban on exporting its H20 AI chips to China. The ban could potentially cost Nvidia up to USD 5.5 billion in lost revenue. With such a massive figure at stake, it’s no surprise that Nvidia is determined not to lose one of its most important markets.

Nvidia has assured its customers that the modified chips will be available as early as June. As of now, the US government has yet to comment on Nvidia’s decision. Still, if Nvidia goes ahead with producing and selling the custom chips in China, it would be a completely legal move under current regulations.
