Sony RELAUNCHING WH-1000XM4 in 2026?! 😲

Yes! Sony is going to re-launch the WH-1000XM4, calling it the WH-1000XM4C.

Not sure what the ‘C’ means, maybe you guys can comment below what ‘C’ possibly is. Maybe it means ‘cheaper’ because it is launching at a lower price than what the original Mark 4 launched at, €249 instead of €349.

Which makes me wonder what corners were possibly cut? Well, we do know for a fact that its battery life will be shorter, up to 34 hours without noise canceling versus the previous 38 hours. So with noise canceling, based on my estimates it could be 24 hours of battery.

On the other hand, the XM4C will get the 10-band EQ we see in the XM6 headphones and earbuds. This could compel some people to even switch from the OG WH-1000XM4 if they want even more granular tuning of their preferred sound.

As of now we don’t know what else is different, although I do pray that Sony kept the things we liked about the WH-1000XM4 like its noise canceling, its slim profile and build quality, and also improve other things like its microphones, and upgrade its Bluetooth to today’s standards which is, at least Bluetooth 5.4. Even better? Bluetooth 6.

Rumours from leaker billbil-kun dealabs suggests that it could launch on September 7th, but no official announcements from Sony just yet. I’m glad that Sony did notice that the WH-1000XM4 is something of a cult item that people are still searching for, a flagship product that’s still performs decently, and being a much older model from 2020, is usually cheaper than a brand new WH-1000XM6. So releasing it again as a cheaper model makes sense, but only if they didn’t cut corners.

Anyway, if I’ve got more updates, and when I get my hands on the WH-1000XM4C, I will come back with a full review.
